How to Find Incredible Dream Clients

The Million-dollar Question

One of the most common questions I get for anyone starting a new business:

“How do you find clients?”

It’s quite literally a million-dollar question!

Where are these awesome, well-paying, perfect dream clients who are SO excited to pay you, never complain about your products, and tell all their friends how great you are??

Y’all, I’ll be honest: sometimes it feels like people are banging down my door for my help, and other times just tumbleweeds.

Often, your clients are right behind you.

Not literally. That would be creepy!

I mean on the path of life.

Initially, your clients aren’t going to come from SEO, paid ads, or random social media searches.

They’re coming from word of mouth.

I’m talking about REFERRALS.

Most of your first clients are going to be referrals from your network or recommendations from family and friends.

This is important to remember:

ALWAYS BE CONNECTING

Every single person I come across, online, at the dog park, in a class, is either a client or knows a potential client who would LOVE to hire me.

I just have to tell them how I can help them!

Which means I need to hear what their problems are.

Which means you listen from a place of service.

If you’re looking to expand your client base, think about what problems have you recently solved in your life that you feel confident you could guide someone through?

You can offer several different services to expand your business to bring in the money.

While expansion is a good thing, be careful you don’t bite off more than you can chew right off the bat. Avoid burnout at all costs, ya’ll!

If you’re stuck in a client dry spell, try the following methods

✨ Reach out to past clients for a testimonial and post it on social media and to your email list

✨ Offer free advice/help to get the conversation rolling through a discovery call

✨ Post quality content, not “fluff” pieces

✨ Make a post announcing you’re open for new clients - tag past clients and ask them to tag people that they think may be interested

If you don’t start getting clients right away, don’t panic!

Going out on your own can be anxiety-inducing, especially when there seem to be no clients in sight.

It’s a lot to handle on your own!

Consider hiring someone (like mee!) to take a look at your offering and your energy and see what’s missing.

Trust the process. It will all work out!
