How to Live Your Best Life as a Kapha
Welcome, Kapha!
2021 is the year you’re FINALLY ready to live your best life! Wahoooo! 🎉🎉
I’m elated that you’re here because I’ve got everything you need to thrive as a Kapha.
For those of you thinking, “what the heck is a Kapha?,” you need to check out my blog Year-End Review for Vatas, Pittas, & Kaphas for an outline of the Ayurveda doshas. Plus, use this Chopra dosha quiz to identify which dosha you are the most aligned with.
Living your life centered around your dosha can help soothe your mind, body, and spirit, making life that much more fulfilling. From the foods you eat to the colors you wear can have either a positive or negative impact depending on your dosha.
That’s why I’ve organized the most optimal exercises, foods, colors, and meditations to help align your inner energetic forces of nature. Pro tip: You’re definitely going to want to save this blog to refer back to all year long!
Exercise
You like to bust a move, Kapha! When it comes to exercise, dancing and cardio are your jams. You need to engage in movement that’s light and exciting making Zumba a perfect workout for you.
As a Kapha, you want to sweat out those toxins, create heat, but most importantly, to keep it fun! Yoga is always an option too since it’s tri-doshic, meaning it works for all three of the doshas.
Don’t bother with any type of boot camp style classes and avoid CrossFit at all costs. (For real, you’re gonna hate it)
Solitary exercises to try: Push-up, pull-up, fast movement
Food
You are healthy by nature, Kapha. That’s why freshly cooked whole foods are the most nourishing for your body. You are going to want to stick to foods that are light, dry, warming, well-spiced, easy to digest, and served warm or hot.
Raw Fruits & Veggies
Spicy Food
Cauliflower
Mushrooms
Leafy-green Veggies
Basmati Rice
Barley
Apples
Papaya
Sweet Foods
Fatty Foods
Dairy
Fried Foods
Chilled Drinks
Salty Foods
Colors
Colors are believed to have an impact on wellness according to the Ayurveda practice. The Kapha dosha is associated with shades of glowing yellow. A Kapha needs energizing and bold colors like red, orange, yellow, and gold. Avoid colors such as navy blue, green, and excess white.
Meditation
Walking meditation is ideal for you, Kapha. The movement of walking gets the circulation going, helping to combat mental sluggishness, foggy thinking, lethargy, and lack of motivation that can be brought on by your empathic nature.
Try one of these meditations:
Guided Walking Meditation for Mindfulness
Rember, Kapha: These are not hard and fast rules to live by. While living in alignment with your dosha is the most beneficial, every food or exercise may not work for you. For example, if you have a bad hip or a bad knee, PLEASE DO NOT do Zumba just because it aligns with you as Kapha.
See what recommendations work for you that enjoy. Everything else will fall into place.
Namaste. 💛
