Day 24
Overwhelmed?
Me too.
There’s a lot to do.
There’s not a lot of time.
Do you know what decision paralysis is?
It’s when you have so many options, you freeze. You can’t decide.
Sometimes, that happens just deciding what to do.
When my family was helping me move one time, my mom and I were surveying everything, discussing how long it was going to take, strategizing, but not actually….doing anything.
My stepfather just picked up a box and put it in the truck. Over and over again.
It all got done.
You’ve just got to pick up a box.
It doesn’t have to be the perfect box in the perfect place, perfectly packed and labeled and organized.
You just need to get the box from point A to point B.
How to extend this metaphor to your own life:
When deciding what to order. Don’t make a decision. Let your eye fall on one thing on the menu. Order that thing.
When you have a big project due. Start with an outline. Then fill in the blanks.
When money feel impossible to manage. Start with what you have. Write down all your debts. Look at the number. Write down how long it would take to pay it off if you paid $5 a week, or $10 a week, or $500 a week. Start making those micropayments.
Break it down into smaller goals.
You don’t have to do it perfectly.
Just pick up the nearest box and get it out the door.
Hooray! Here’s how to handle overwhelm.
Sweet! Let’s stretch out those strong shoulders.
Glorious! It’s a journaling exercise!
Keep in touch, y’all!
